Then he said to them all:“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

人就我、若不愛我、勝於愛其父母、妻子、兄弟、姊妹、與己之生命、不得為我徒、不負其十字架而從我者、亦不得為我徒、

遂召眾與門徒曰、人欲從我、則當克己、負其十字架而從我、凡欲救其生命者、反喪之、為我及福音而喪生命者、必救之、人若盡得天下利、而失其生命、有何益乎、抑人將以何者易其生命乎、凡在此姦惡之世、恥我及我道者、迨人子以父之榮、偕聖天使降臨時、亦必恥其人、

爾曹若從肉體而行、必死、若以聖神而滅身之邪行、必生、

愛其生命者、反喪之、不愛生命者、不愛生命者原文作厭其生命者必保之至永生、欲事我者、當從我、我所在、事我者亦在、人若事我、我父必貴之、

教我儕除諸不虔及世之情慾、得以自守公義虔敬、在此世度日、

故當滅爾在地之肢體所作之罪、即姦淫、污穢、邪侈、惡慾、貪婪、貪婪與拜偶像同罪、

凡欲從基督耶穌而虔敬度日者、必受窘逐、

彼得遂援而勸之曰、主、不可、此必不臨爾、耶穌顧彼得謂之曰、撒但退、爾阻我、因爾不念天主之事、乃念人之事也、時耶穌謂門徒曰、凡欲從我者當克己、負十字架而從我、凡欲救其生命者、反喪之、為我而喪其生命者、反得之、

我儕何為恆冒險乎、我儕因主基督耶穌有所誇、我指此而誓、我每日冒死、
