耶穌又教導眾人說：「如果有人要跟從我，就應當捨己，天天背起他的十字架跟從我。

亦謂眾曰、欲為吾徒、則當克己、日負十字架以從、

耶穌諭眾曰：『人欲從予、務宜克己、日負其十字架、而隨予後。

Then he said to them all:“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Then he said to all of them,“ Whoever wants to follow me must say no to themselves. They must pick up their cross every day and follow me.

And he said to all,“ If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Then he said to the crowd,“ If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Then he said to them all,“ If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

And He was saying to them all,“ If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Then He said to them all,“ If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

He said to all,“ If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.

不肯背起他的十字架跟從我的人不配作我的門徒。試圖保全自己生命的反而會失去生命，但為我捨棄生命的反而會得到生命。

「若有人要跟從我，就要愛我勝過愛他的父母、妻子、兒女、弟兄、姊妹，甚至自己的生命，否則就不能作我的門徒。若不背起自己的十字架跟從我，就不能作我的門徒。

祂叫眾人和門徒一起過來，對他們說：「如果有人要跟從我，就應當捨己，背起他的十字架跟從我。因為想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但為了我和福音而失去生命的，必得到生命。人就是賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？他還能用什麼換回生命呢？「在這淫亂、罪惡的世代，如果有人以我和我的道為恥，人子在父的榮耀中與聖天使再來的時候，也要以他為恥。」

你們若隨從罪惡本性活著，必定死亡；但若靠著聖靈除去身體的惡行，就必活著。

愛惜自己生命的，必會失掉生命；憎惡自己今世生命的，才能保住生命，直到永生。誰要事奉我，就要跟從我。我在哪裡，事奉我的人也要在哪裡。我父必尊重事奉我的人。

這恩典教導我們除掉不敬虔的心和世俗的私慾，在今世過自律、公義、敬畏上帝的生活，

所以，你們要治死身上屬世的罪惡，如淫亂、污穢、邪情、惡慾和貪心，貪心就是拜偶像，

其實凡立志在基督耶穌裡過敬虔生活的人都會受到迫害。

彼得把耶穌拉到一邊，勸阻祂說：「主啊，千萬不可！這件事絕不會發生在你身上！」耶穌立刻轉過身來責備彼得說：「撒旦，退到我後面去！你是我的絆腳石，因為你不考慮上帝的意思，只考慮人的意思。」於是耶穌對門徒說：「如果有人要跟從我，就應當捨己，背起他的十字架跟從我。因為想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但為了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。

我們又何必時刻身臨險境呢？我天天與死亡搏鬥。弟兄姊妹，我這樣說，就跟我在主基督耶穌裡以你們為榮一樣，沒有半點虛假。
