And he said,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

On the third day, he will rise again.”They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.

He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.He spoke to them openly. Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.But he, turning around, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said,“ Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men.”He called the multitude to himself with his disciples, and said to them,“ Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?For what will a man give in exchange for his life?For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him, when he comes in his Father’s glory, with the holy angels.”He said to them,“ Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death until they see God’s Kingdom come with power.”

Who has believed our message? To whom has Yahweh’s arm been revealed?For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no good looks or majesty. When we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.Surely he has borne our sickness and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he didn’t open his mouth.He was taken away by oppression and judgment. As for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living and stricken for the disobedience of my people?They made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.Yet it pleased Yahweh to bruise him. He has caused him to suffer. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his offspring. He will prolong his days and Yahweh’s pleasure will prosper in his hand.After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light and be satisfied. My righteous servant will justify many by the knowledge of himself; and he will bear their iniquities.Therefore I will give him a portion with the great. He will divide the plunder with the strong; because he poured out his soul to death and was counted with the transgressors; yet he bore the sins of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

From that time, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying,“ Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”But he turned, and said to Peter,“ Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”

For he was teaching his disciples, and said to them,“ The Son of Man is being handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again.”

I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.”

searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent.But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel.Our fathers trusted in you. They trusted, and you delivered them.They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you, and were not disappointed.But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying,“ He trusts in Yahweh. Let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him.”But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust while at my mother’s breasts.I was thrown on you from my mother’s womb. You are my God since my mother bore me.Don’t be far from me, for trouble is near. For there is no one to help.Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.They open their mouths wide against me, lions tearing prey and roaring.I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It is melted within me.My strength is dried up like a potsherd. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have brought me into the dust of death.For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They have pierced my hands and feet.I can count all of my bones. They look and stare at me.They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.But don’t be far off, Yahweh. You are my help. Hurry to help me!Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog.Save me from the lion’s mouth! Yes, you have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen.I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the assembly, I will praise you.You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel!For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.My praise of you comes in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him.The humble shall eat and be satisfied. They shall praise Yahweh who seek after him. Let your hearts live forever.All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.For the kingdom is Yahweh’s. He is the ruler over the nations.All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, even he who can’t keep his soul alive.Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord.They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, for he has done it.

“ Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me,” says Yahweh of Armies.“ Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck!I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God.Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who want to cut me off, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. I have to restore what I didn’t take away.God, you know my foolishness. My sins aren’t hidden from you.Don’t let those who wait for you be shamed through me, Lord Yahweh of Armies. Don’t let those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, God of Israel.Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s children.For the zeal of your house consumes me. The reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.When I wept and I fasted, that was to my reproach.When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.Those who sit in the gate talk about me. I am the song of the drunkards.But as for me, my prayer is to you, Yahweh, in an acceptable time. God, in the abundance of your loving kindness, answer me in the truth of your salvation.Deliver me out of the mire, and don’t let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up. Don’t let the pit shut its mouth on me.Answer me, Yahweh, for your loving kindness is good. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, turn to me.Don’t hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me speedily!Draw near to my soul and redeem it. Ransom me because of my enemies.You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor. My adversaries are all before you.Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.They also gave me poison for my food. In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.Let their table before them become a snare. May it become a retribution and a trap.Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can’t see. Let their backs be continually bent.Pour out your indignation on them. Let the fierceness of your anger overtake them.Let their habitation be desolate. Let no one dwell in their tents.For they persecute him whom you have wounded. They tell of the sorrow of those whom you have hurt.Charge them with crime upon crime. Don’t let them come into your righteousness.Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and not be written with the righteous.But I am in pain and distress. Let your salvation, God, protect me.I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.It will please Yahweh better than an ox, or a bull that has horns and hoofs.The humble have seen it, and are glad. You who seek after God, let your heart live.For Yahweh hears the needy, and doesn’t despise his captive people.Let heaven and earth praise him; the seas, and everything that moves therein!For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it.The children also of his servants shall inherit it. Those who love his name shall dwell therein.

Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?”

After the sixty- two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.

For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they didn’t know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed.When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.

“ Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.”

While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them,“ The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,

who by the mouth of your servant, David, said,‘ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.’“ For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed,to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.
