以利亞對她說：「把你兒子交給我。」以利亞就從婦人懷中接過孩子來，抱到他所住的頂樓，放在自己的床上。他求告耶和華說：「耶和華－我的神啊，我寄居在這寡婦的家裏，你卻降禍於她，使她的兒子死了嗎？」以利亞三次伏在孩子的身上，求告耶和華說：「耶和華－我的神啊，求你使這孩子的生命歸回給他吧！」耶和華聽了以利亞的呼求，孩子的生命歸回給他，他就活了。以利亞把孩子從樓上抱下來，進了房間交給他母親，說：「看，你的兒子活了！」

他不喧嚷，不揚聲，也不使街上聽見他的聲音。

於是他帶着彼得、雅各和約翰同去。他驚恐起來，極其難過，

然後你回家，關上門，你和你兒子在裏面把油倒在所有的器皿裏，倒滿了就放在一邊。」於是婦人離開以利沙去了。她關上門，把自己和兒子關在家裏。他們把器皿拿給她，她就倒油。器皿都滿了，她對兒子說：「再給我拿器皿來。」兒子對她說：「沒有器皿了。」油就止住了。

說了這些話以後約有八天，耶穌帶着彼得、約翰、雅各上山去禱告。

「你們禱告的時候，不可像那假冒為善的人，愛站在會堂裏和十字路口禱告，故意讓人看見。我實在告訴你們，他們已經得了他們的賞賜。你禱告的時候，要進入內室，關上門，向那在隱祕中的父禱告；你父在隱祕中察看，必將賞賜你。

於是他帶着彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰同去，不許別人跟着他。他們來到會堂主管的家裏，耶穌看到一片吵鬧，並有人大聲哭泣哀號，就進到裏面，對他們說：「為甚麼大吵大哭呢？孩子不是死了，是睡着了。」他們就嘲笑耶穌。耶穌把他們都趕出去，帶着孩子的父母和跟隨的人進了孩子所在的地方，

這十二個人有西門（耶穌又給他起名叫彼得），還有他弟弟安得烈，又有雅各和約翰，腓力和巴多羅買，

彼得叫她們都出去，然後跪下禱告，轉身對着屍體說：「大比大，起來！」她就睜開眼睛，看見彼得，就坐了起來。

他上去伏在孩子身上，口對口，眼對眼，手對手。他伏在孩子身上，孩子的身體就漸漸暖和了。然後他下來，在屋裏來回走了一趟，又上去伏在孩子身上。孩子打了七個噴嚏，眼睛就睜開了。以利沙叫基哈西說：「你叫這書念婦人來。」於是他叫了她來。婦人來到以利沙那裏，以利沙說：「把你兒子抱起來。」
