以利亞對她說：「把你兒子交給我。」以利亞就從婦人懷中將孩子接過來，抱到他所住的樓中，放在自己的牀上，就求告耶和華說：「耶和華－我的神啊，我寄居在這寡婦的家裏，你就降禍與她，使她的兒子死了嗎？」以利亞三次伏在孩子的身上，求告耶和華說：「耶和華－我的神啊，求你使這孩子的靈魂仍入他的身體！」耶和華應允以利亞的話，孩子的靈魂仍入他的身體，他就活了。以利亞將孩子從樓上抱下來，進屋子交給他母親，說：「看哪，你的兒子活了！」

他不喧嚷，不揚聲，也不使街上聽見他的聲音。

於是帶着彼得、雅各、約翰同去，就驚恐起來，極其難過，

回到家裏，關上門，你和你兒子在裏面將油倒在所有的器皿裏，倒滿了的放在一邊。」於是，婦人離開以利沙去了，關上門，自己和兒子在裏面；兒子把器皿拿來，她就倒油。器皿都滿了，她對兒子說：「再給我拿器皿來。」兒子說：「再沒有器皿了。」油就止住了。

說了這話以後約有八天，耶穌帶着彼得、約翰、雅各上山去禱告。

「你們禱告的時候，不可像那假冒為善的人，愛站在會堂裏和十字路口上禱告，故意叫人看見。我實在告訴你們，他們已經得了他們的賞賜。你禱告的時候，要進你的內屋，關上門，禱告你在暗中的父；你父在暗中察看，必然報答你。

於是帶着彼得、雅各，和雅各的兄弟約翰同去，不許別人跟隨他。他們來到管會堂的家裏；耶穌看見那裏亂嚷，並有人大大地哭泣哀號，進到裏面，就對他們說：「為甚麼亂嚷哭泣呢？孩子不是死了，是睡着了。」他們就嗤笑耶穌。耶穌把他們都攆出去，就帶着孩子的父母和跟隨的人進了孩子所在的地方，

這十二個人有西門（耶穌又給他起名叫彼得），還有他兄弟安得烈，又有雅各和約翰，腓力和巴多羅買，

彼得叫她們都出去，就跪下禱告，轉身對着死人說：「大比大，起來！」她就睜開眼睛，見了彼得，便坐起來。

上牀伏在孩子身上，口對口，眼對眼，手對手；既伏在孩子身上，孩子的身體就漸漸溫和了。然後他下來，在屋裏來往走了一趟，又上去伏在孩子身上，孩子打了七個噴嚏，就睜開眼睛了。以利沙叫基哈西說：「你叫這書念婦人來」；於是叫了她來。以利沙說：「將你兒子抱起來。」
