以利亞對她說：“把你的兒子交給我吧！”以利亞就從她的懷中把孩子接過來，抱他上到自己所住的樓上去，放在自己的床上。以利亞呼求耶和華說：“耶和華我的神啊，我寄居在這寡婦的家裡，你也降禍與她，使她的兒子死去嗎？”然後，以利亞三次伏在孩子的身上，向耶和華呼求說：“耶和華我的神，求你恢復這孩子的生命吧。”耶和華垂聽了以利亞的話，孩子的生命果然恢復，活過來了。以利亞把孩子抱起來，從樓上下到屋子裡去，把孩子交給他的母親；以利亞說：“看，你的兒子活了！”

他不呼喊，也不揚聲，也不叫人在街上聽見他的聲音。

他帶了彼得、雅各、約翰一起去，就驚懼起來，非常難過。

然後回去，把你和你兒子關在家裡，你要把油倒在所有器皿裡面，裝滿了的就放在一邊。”於是婦人離開了他，把自己和兒子關在門內；她的兒子不住地把器皿拿到她面前，她就把油倒進去。器皿都倒滿了的時候，她對兒子說：“再拿一個器皿給我。”他對她說：“再沒有器皿了。”油就止住了。

說了這些話以後約有八天，耶穌帶著彼得、約翰和雅各，上山去禱告。

“你們祈禱的時候，不可像偽君子；他們喜歡在會堂和路口站著祈禱，好讓人看見。我實在告訴你們，他們已經得了他們的賞賜。但你祈禱的時候，要進到密室裡去，關上門，向在隱密中的父祈禱。你父在隱密中察看，必定報答你。

於是他不許別人跟他一起去，只帶了彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰。他們來到會堂主管的家，耶穌看見許多人哭泣哀號，一片混亂，就走進去，對眾人說：“為甚麼大哭大嚷呢？孩子不是死了，是睡著了。”眾人就嘲笑他。耶穌把眾人都趕出去，帶著孩子的父母和跟隨他的門徒，進入孩子所在的房間。

就是西門（又給他起名叫彼得），和他弟弟安得烈，以及雅各、約翰、腓力、巴多羅邁、

彼得叫大家出去之後，就跪下來禱告，然後轉過身來對著屍體說：“戴比莎，起來！”她就睜開眼睛，一看見彼得，就坐了起來。

他又上床伏在孩子身上，使自己的口對著孩子的口，自己的眼對著孩子的眼，自己的手放在孩子的手上；他伏在孩子身上，孩子的身體就漸漸溫暖起來。然後他下來在房內來回走了一趟，再上去，伏在孩子身上；那孩子打了七個噴嚏，跟著就張開了眼睛。神人呼喚基哈西，說：“你去叫那書念的婦人來。”他就去叫她，她來到他那裡，他就說：“把你的兒子抱起來。”
