以利亞對婦人說：「把你兒子交給我。」隨後，他從婦人懷中接過孩子，抱到樓上自己的房間，放在床上。他向耶和華呼求道：「我的上帝耶和華啊，我寄居在這寡婦家裡，你為什麼降禍給她，奪去她兒子的性命呢？」他三次伏在孩子身上，求告耶和華說：「我的上帝耶和華啊，求你讓這孩子活過來吧。」耶和華聽了以利亞的祈求，孩子就活過來了。以利亞將孩子從樓上抱下來，交給他母親，說：「看，你兒子活過來了！」

祂不喧嚷，不呼喊，不在街上高聲說話。

於是耶穌帶著彼得、雅各和約翰向前走。祂覺得極其難過，非常傷痛，

然後回家關上門，你和你兒子在屋裡把那瓶油倒在所有借來的器皿中，裝滿的放在一邊。」於是，婦人辭別以利沙，回去後把自己和兒子關在屋裡，兒子遞給她器皿，她就倒油。器皿都裝滿了，她對兒子說：「再拿個器皿給我。」兒子說：「已經沒有了。」這時，油止住了。

講完這些話後大約八天，耶穌帶著彼得、約翰和雅各一同到山上禱告。

「你們禱告時，不要像偽君子那樣。他們喜歡站在會堂裡和十字路口上公開禱告，故意讓人看見。我實在告訴你們，他們得到的賞賜不過是人的讚賞。你們禱告的時候，要進入內室，關上門，向你們肉眼看不見的父祈禱，鑒察隱祕事的父必賞賜你們。

於是，祂帶著彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰去雅魯家，不准其他人跟著。他們到了那裡，只見在場的人嚎啕大哭，場面混亂。耶穌進去問道：「你們為什麼大哭大嚷呢？這孩子並沒有死，只是睡著了。」這些人聽了，都譏笑祂。耶穌讓他們全部出去，然後帶著孩子的父母和三個門徒進了房間。

他們是：西門——耶穌給他取名叫彼得、西門的兄弟安得烈、雅各、約翰、腓力、巴多羅買、

彼得叫她們都出去，自己跪下禱告，然後轉身對死者說：「戴碧達，起來！」她便睜開了眼睛，看見彼得，就坐了起來。

禱告後，他上床伏在孩子身上，口對口，眼對眼，手對手，孩子的身體漸漸變暖了。然後，以利沙起來在房內來回走了一趟，又上床伏在孩子身上。孩子打了七個噴嚏，便睜開了眼睛。以利沙叫基哈西請那婦人來。婦人來了，以利沙對她說：「把你兒子抱走吧。」
