『昔有播種者、出而播種；種有落道旁者、行人踐之、飛鳥啄之；

“有一个撒种的出去撒种。撒的时候，有落在路旁的，被人践踏，天上的飞鸟又来吃尽了。

落於道旁者、譬人甫聞道、魔輒至、將新播於心田之道奪之以去；

又曰：『天主之國、猶農人播種於地、夜寐夙興、種發且長、而稼者則莫知其所以然也。蓋地生百穀、出乎自然、始而苗、繼而秀、終則豐腴之穀實、滿結穗中；既熟、則鐮而刈之、斯即收穫之時。』

爾曹乃地上之鹽也、鹽失其味、更將何以調之？從此休矣、惟有棄之於外、而任人踐踏耳。

耶穌復喻曰：『天國猶人播佳種於田、迨人盡寢、讐至、撒稗於麥中而去、已而苗秀且實、而稗亦顯。

耶穌多方設譬而誨之曰：『爾其諦聽：有農人出而播種、播時、其種有落道旁者、飛鳥至而啄之；

乃多方設喻而訓之曰：『有農人出而播種、播時、或落道旁、鳥來啄之；

斯譬所謂種者、天主之道也；落道旁者、言人聞道之餘、魔鬼旋至、恐其因信而獲救、乃自其心中奪之以去；

無道之人。應遭隕越。我主惟誠。無取詭譎。

爾其諦聽播種之喻：聞天國之道而不之悟、惡者旋至、奪其所播於心、斯乃播於道旁者也。

耶穌曰：『播佳種者、人子也；
