正好像罪藉著一個人入了世界，死又是從罪來的，所以死就臨到所有人，因為所有人都犯了罪。

你使世人消逝，像被洪水沖去；他們好像睡了一覺；他們又像在早晨生長的草，早晨發芽生長，晚上就凋萎枯乾。我們因你的怒氣而消滅，因你的烈怒而驚恐。你把我們的罪孽擺在你面前，把我們的隱惡擺在你臉光之中。

“人子啊！我要打擊你，把你眼中所喜愛的奪去，你卻不可悲哀，不可哭泣，也不可流淚。

我們曾經回答我主：‘我們還有年老的父親和最小的弟弟，是他年老時所生的。他的哥哥死了，他母親只剩下他一個孩子，他父親非常愛他。’你就對僕人們說：‘把他帶下來到我這裡，我要親眼看看他。’我們對我主說：‘那孩子是不能離開他父親的；如果離開了，他父親必定死。’

至於世人，他的年日好像草一般；他又像野地繁茂的花。經風一吹，就歸無有；他原來的地方再不認識他。

耶穌就和他一起去了。一大群人跟著他，擁擠著他。

在虛空、消逝如影的人生，短暫的日子裡，有誰知道甚麼是對人有益處呢？誰能告訴人他死後在日光之下會發生甚麼事呢？

在早晚之間他們就被毀滅，永歸沉淪，無人懷念。

“人子啊！我從他們中間奪去他們的堡壘、他們所喜歡的榮耀、他們眼所喜愛的、心所崇尚的和他們的兒女的時候，

“我必把那恩慈與懇求的靈傾注在大衛家和耶路撒冷居民的身上。他們必仰望我，就是他們所刺的；他們要為他哀哭，好像喪獨生子；他們必為他悲痛，好像喪長子。
