但是过了不久，一股叫做“东北风”的飓风，从岛上袭来。船被困住，顶不住风，我们只好任凭船被刮走。我们沿着一个叫做克劳达小岛的背风岸行驶的时候，好不容易才控制住救生艇。水手们把救生艇拖上来以后，就用缆绳绕过大船底绑好；又怕在叙尔提斯浅滩上会搁浅，就把锚放低，任船漂流。我们被暴风猛烈地袭击。第二天，他们开始把货物抛在海里。第三天，他们又亲手把船上的用具抛出去。一连好几天见不到太阳和星星，又有暴风雨催逼着，最后我们连获救的希望都断绝了。

耶和华啊，洪流扬起——洪流扬起它们的声音，洪流扬起它们的涛声！耶和华在至高处大有能力，胜过大水的声音，胜过海洋巨大的波浪！

就在那些日子里，有一天耶稣和他的门徒们上了船，耶稣对他们说：“我们渡到湖对岸去吧。”他们就出发了。

要不是耶和华在我们这边，那么，人们起来攻击我们时，他们的怒气向我们发作时，他们早就活活吞掉了我们——众水漫过我们，急流淹没我们，

“你这经受困苦、屡遭风暴、不得安慰的城啊！看哪！我必把你的石头安置在金属锑上，以蓝宝石奠定你的根基，

耶和华的膀臂啊，醒来，醒来，以力量为衣！醒来吧，就像你在太初的日子、亘古的世代！从前砍碎拉哈伯、刺透海中巨兽的，难道不是你吗？使海洋深渊之水干涸的，使海洋深处变为道路，让救赎之民经过的，难道不是你吗？

又一些人乘船航行在海上，在大水上往来经商；他们看见了耶和华所做的，以及他在深海中的奇妙作为。他一吩咐，暴风就兴起，扬起海洋的波涛。他们上到天空，又下到深渊，在危急中魂飞魄散。他们摇摇晃晃，东倒西歪，好像醉酒的人，他们一切的智慧都毫无用处。于是他们在危难中向耶和华呼求，他就把他们从困境中领出来。他使狂风止息，归于静寂，海洋的波涛也平静了。他们因为波涛平静下来就欢喜，他就引导他们到想要去的安全港。

烈火和冰雹、冰雪和云雾、遵行他话语的暴风、

因为我们的大祭司不是不能同情我们的种种软弱，而是在各方面照着与我们相同的样式受过试探，只是没有犯罪。
