Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw[ it], he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman[ this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

請耶穌之法利賽人見之、意謂、斯人若先知、必知捫之者為誰、為何如婦、乃罪人也、

宴耶穌之𠵽唎㘔人見此、意謂是人若先知、必知捫之者為何如婦、蓋惡行者也、○

法利塞見而自思曰：「斯人苟為先知、當知撫之者為誰、寧不識此女乃風塵中人乎？」

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is— that she is a sinner.”

The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him. He would know what kind of woman she is. She is a sinner!”

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These[ are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.Nicodemus saith unto them,( he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)Doth our law judge[ any] man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that[ Jesus] sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to[ our] father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.And he answering said to[ his] father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so[ is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart[ is] not with thee.

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men[ are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,Why doth this[ man] thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but,[ as] the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

But when Jesus heard[ that], he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.But go ye and learn what[ that] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

But what think ye? A[ certain] man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I[ go], sir: and went not.Whether of them twain did the will of[ his] father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
