When the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself,“ This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching Him— she’s a sinner!”

法利塞見而自思曰：「斯人苟為先知、當知撫之者為誰、寧不識此女乃風塵中人乎？」

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is— that she is a sinner.”

The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him. He would know what kind of woman she is. She is a sinner!”

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw[ it], he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman[ this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.”

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself,“ This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”

Then fear came over everyone, and they glorified God, saying,“ A great prophet has risen among us,” and“ God has visited His people.”

And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!”

They say,‘ Keep to yourself, don’t come near me, for I am too holy for you!’ These practices are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all day long.

For from within, out of people’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders,

Then the Pharisees responded to them:“ Are you fooled too?Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed!”Nicodemus— the one who came to Him previously, being one of them— said to them,“ Our law doesn’t judge a man before it hears from him and knows what he’s doing, does it?”“ You aren’t from Galilee too, are you?” they replied.“ Investigate and you will see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”

And a woman in the town who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee’s house. She brought an alabaster jar of fragrant oil

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

“ Then the manager said to himself,‘ What should I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I’m not strong enough to dig; I’m ashamed to beg.

“ Then he became angry and didn’t want to go in. So his father came out and pleaded with him.But he replied to his father,‘ Look, I have been slaving many years for you, and I have never disobeyed your orders, yet you never gave me a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’

“ Sir,” the woman replied,“ I see that You are a prophet.

for it’s like someone calculating inwardly.“ Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else:“ Two men went up to the temple complex to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee took his stand and was praying like this:‘ God, I thank You that I’m not like other people— greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

So a second time they summoned the man who had been blind and told him,“ Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner!”

But some of the scribes were sitting there, thinking to themselves:“ Why does He speak like this? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

And there was a lot of discussion about Him among the crowds. Some were saying,“ He’s a good man.” Others were saying,“ No, on the contrary, He’s deceiving the people.”

When some from the crowd heard these words, they said,“ This really is the Prophet!”Others said,“ This is the Messiah!” But some said,“ Surely the Messiah doesn’t come from Galilee, does He?

Gehazi, the attendant of Elisha the man of God, thought: My master has let this Aramean Naaman off lightly by not accepting from him what he brought. As the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.

“ For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself,‘ Even though I don’t fear God or respect man,

But when He heard this, He said,“ Those who are well don’t need a doctor, but the sick do.Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

“ But what do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said,‘ My son, go, work in the vineyard today.’“ He answered,‘ I don’t want to!’ Yet later he changed his mind and went.Then the man went to the other and said the same thing.“‘ I will, sir,’ he answered. But he didn’t go.“ Which of the two did his father’s will?”“ The first,” they said. Jesus said to them,“ I assure you: Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you!

“ So the last will be first, and the first last.”

He thought to himself,‘ What should I do, since I don’t have anywhere to store my crops?
