Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.

宴耶穌之𠵽唎㘔人見此、意謂是人若先知、必知捫之者為何如婦、蓋惡行者也、○

法利塞見而自思曰：「斯人苟為先知、當知撫之者為誰、寧不識此女乃風塵中人乎？」

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is— that she is a sinner.”

The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him. He would know what kind of woman she is. She is a sinner!”

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

that say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me, for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,

The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also led astray?Hath any of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees?But this multitude that knoweth not the law are accursed.Nicodemus saith unto them( he that came to him before, being one of them),Doth our law judge a man, except it first hear from himself and know what he doeth?They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

And behold, a woman who was in the city, a sinner; and when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment,

Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.

But he was angry, and would not go in: and his father came out, and entreated him.But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

For as he thinketh within himself, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.

And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought:Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

So they called a second time the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give glory to God: we know that this man is a sinner.

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, even God?

And there was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him: some said, He is a good man; others said, Not so, but he leadeth the multitude astray.

Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is of a truth the prophet.Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, What, doth the Christ come out of Galilee?

But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: as Jehovah liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

But when he heard it, he said, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick.But go ye and learn what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice: for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to- day in the vineyard.And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went.And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

So the last shall be first, and the first last.

and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits?
