Which of the two did the will of his father?” They* said,“ The first.” Jesus* said to them,“ Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to raise his eyes toward heaven, but was beating his chest, saying,‘ God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’

Why are you bothering her? She has done a good deed for Me.For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the entire world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.”

realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and worldly, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner?

The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling to His disciples, saying,“ Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

We know that God does not listen to sinners; but if someone is God fearing and does His will, He listens to him.

Therefore, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.So they made Him a dinner there, and Martha was serving; and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.Mary then took a pound of very expensive perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, the one who intended to betray Him,* said,“ Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the proceeds given to poor people?”Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he kept the money box, he used to steal from what was put into it.Therefore Jesus said,“ Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial.For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.”

So for a second time they summoned the man who had been blind, and said to him,“ Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner.”

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say,‘ Behold, a gluttonous man and a heavy drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

When the people saw this, they all began to complain, saying,“ He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner!”

It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost.

And it was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
