众百姓和税吏既受过约翰的洗，听见这话，就以神为义；

( All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.

All the people who heard Jesus’ words agreed that God’s way was right. Even the tax collectors agreed. These people had all been baptized by John.

( When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John,

又有税吏来要受洗，问他说：“夫子，我们当做什么呢？”

但智慧之子都以智慧为是。”

唱神仆人摩西的歌和羔羊的歌，说：“主神，全能者啊，你的作为大哉！奇哉！万世之王啊，你的道途义哉！诚哉！

断乎不能！不如说，神是真实的，人都是虚谎的。如经上所记：“你责备人的时候，显为公义；被人议论的时候，可以得胜。”我且照着人的常话说，我们的不义若显出神的义来，我们可以怎么说呢？神降怒，是他不义吗？断乎不是！若是这样，神怎能审判世界呢？

这人已经在主的道上受了教训，心里火热，将耶稣的事详细讲论教训人；只是他单晓得约翰的洗礼。

我向你犯罪，惟独得罪了你；在你眼前行了这恶，以致你责备我的时候显为公义，判断我的时候显为清正。

保罗说：“这样，你们受的是什么洗呢？”他们说：“是约翰的洗。”

你们想，这两个儿子是哪一个遵行父命呢？”他们说：“大儿子。”耶稣说：“我实在告诉你们，税吏和娼妓倒比你们先进神的国。因为约翰遵着义路到你们这里来，你们却不信他；税吏和娼妓倒信他。你们看见了，后来还是不懊悔去信他。”

我听见掌管众水的天使说：“昔在、今在的圣者啊，你这样判断是公义的；

因为不知道神的义，想要立自己的义，就不服神的义了。

那时，耶路撒冷和犹太全地，并约旦河一带地方的人，都出去到约翰那里，承认他们的罪，在约旦河里受他的洗。

亚多尼比色说：“从前有七十个王，手脚的大拇指都被我砍断，在我桌子底下拾取零碎食物。现在神按着我所行的报应我了。”于是他们将亚多尼比色带到耶路撒冷，他就死在那里。
