眾人和稅吏受過約翰的洗禮，聽見這話，就稱神為義。

庶民與稅吏、既受約翰之洗、聞之遂義上帝、

庶民與稅吏、素受洗於約翰、聞此言而稱上帝之義、

庶民及稅吏、聽而受洗於約翰、且稱頌天主之義、

眾與稅吏、咸受洗於如望、聞其言莫不稱頌天主至德；

( All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.

All the people who heard Jesus’ words agreed that God’s way was right. Even the tax collectors agreed. These people had all been baptized by John.

( When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John,

又有稅吏來要受洗，問他：“老師，我們當作甚麼呢？”

但神的智慧，藉著他的兒女就證實是公義的了。”

他們唱著神僕人摩西的歌和羊羔的歌，說：“主啊！全能的神，你的作為又偉大又奇妙！萬國的王啊，你的道路又公義又真實！

絕不可能！神總是誠實的，人卻是虛謊的，正如經上所記：“你在話語上，顯為公義；你被論斷時，必然得勝。”我且照著人的見解來說，我們的不義若彰顯神的義，我們可以說甚麼呢？難道降怒的神是不義的嗎？絕對不是！如果是這樣，神怎能審判世界呢？

這人在主的道上受過訓練，心靈火熱，很準確地講論，並且教導人關於耶穌的事，但他只曉得約翰的洗禮。

我得罪了你，唯獨得罪你；我行了你眼中看為惡的事，因此，你宣判的時候，顯為公義；你審判的時候，顯為清正。

保羅問：“那麼你們受的是甚麼洗呢？”他們說：“是約翰的洗禮。”

這兩個兒子，哪一個聽父親的話呢？”他們說：“大兒子。”耶穌對他們說：“我實在告訴你們：稅吏和娼妓比你們先進神的國。約翰來到你們那裡，指示你們行義路﹙或譯：“約翰在義路中，來到你們這裡”。﹚，你們不信他；稅吏和娼妓卻信了他。你們看見了之後，還是沒有改變心意去信他。

我聽見掌管眾水的天使說：“今在昔在的聖者啊！你這樣審判是公義的，

他們既然不明白神的義，而又企圖建立自己的義，就不服神的義了。

耶路撒冷、猶太全地和約旦河一帶的人都出來到他那裡去，承認自己的罪，在約旦河裡受了他的洗。

比色王說：“從前有七十個王，手腳的大拇指都被我砍去，在我的桌子底下拾取食物；現在神照著我所行的，報應我了。”於是他們把他帶到耶路撒冷，後來他就死在那裡。
