我實在告訴你們，婦人所生的，沒有一個比施洗的約翰更大；然而天國裡最小的比他還大。

耶穌轉過身來，悄悄地對門徒說：“看見你們所看見的，那眼睛有福了！我告訴你們，曾經有許多先知和君王，想看你們所看見的，卻沒有看到；想聽你們所聽見的，卻沒有聽到。”

“你們的眼睛是有福的，因為可以看見；你們的耳朵是有福的，因為可以聽見。我實在告訴你們，曾經有許多先知和義人想看你們所看見的，卻沒有看到，想聽你們所聽見的，卻沒有聽到。

我照著神為你們而賜給我的管家職分，作了教會的僕役，要把神的道，就是歷世歷代隱藏的奧祕，傳得完備。現在這奧祕已經向他的眾聖徒顯明了。

我本來比聖徒中最小的還小，神還是賜給我這恩典，要我把基督那測不透的豐富傳給外族人，並且使眾人明白那奧祕的救世計劃是甚麼（這奧祕是歷代以來隱藏在創造萬有的神裡面的），

約翰對眾人說：“我用水給你們施洗，但那能力比我更大的要來，我就是給他解鞋帶都沒有資格。他要用聖靈與火給你們施洗。

論到這救恩，那預言你們要得恩典的眾先知，都尋求考察過，就是把他們心裡基督的靈所預先見證，關於基督要受苦難後來得榮耀，是在甚麼時候和怎樣的情況加以考察。他們蒙了啟示，為這些事效力，並不是為自己，而是為你們。現在，藉著傳福音給你們的人，靠著從天上差來的聖靈，把這些事傳給了你們；甚至天使也很想詳細察看這些事。

對他們說：“凡因我的名接待這小孩子的，就是接待我；凡接待我的，就是接待那差我來的。誰是你們中間最小的，那人就是最大的。”

你必歡喜快樂，許多人因他出生，也必喜樂。他在主面前要被尊為大，淡酒濃酒都不喝，未出母腹就被聖靈充滿。

所有這些人都藉著信得了稱許，卻還沒有得著所應許的；因為神已經為我們預備了更美的事，使他們若不跟我們在一起，就不能完全。
