I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

I tell you, no one more important than John has ever been born. But the least important person in God’s kingdom is more important than John is.”

我實在告訴你們，婦人所生的，沒有一個興起來比施洗者約翰更大的；然而在天國裏最小的比他還大！

就轉過身來暗暗地對門徒說：『看見你們所看見的、那眼睛有福啊！我告訴你們，從前有許多神言人和君王想要看你們所看見的，卻沒有看過；想要聽你們所聽見的，卻沒有聽過。』

但是你們的眼有福啊，因為它們看得見；你們的耳有福啊，因為它們聽得着。我實在告訴你們，許多神言人和義人巴不得要看你們所看見的，卻沒有看到；要聽你們所聽見的，卻沒有聽到。

我照上帝為你們而賜給我的管家職分、做教會的僕役，要把上帝之道、歷世歷代以來所隱藏的奧祕、如今向他聖徒們所顯明的、傳得完滿。

這恩典賜給了我，竟給我這比眾聖徒最小的還小的人，叫我把基督那追尋不盡之豐富傳給外國人，照明歷世以來隱藏在創造萬有之上帝裏的奧祕、是何等的安排，

約翰就應時對眾人說：『我是用水給你們洗的，但那比我有力量的要來，他的鞋帶、我不配解的，他、必用聖靈與火給你們洗。

論到這拯救、神言人們、那些豫先傳講你們所必得之恩的、已經尋求搜索了。他們竭力探索那在他們裏面的「被膏者之靈」所豫先證明被膏者必受的苦以及後來必得的榮勝所指的是甚麼時候、或甚麼情況。他們得了啓示、知道他們在這些事上所作服事的工、並不是為了自己，乃是為了你們。藉着那些靠聖靈而傳福音給你們的人、這些事如今已經傳告給你們了（聖靈是那從天上被差遣的）。天使也切願詳細窺察這些事呢。

便對他們說：『凡為我名的緣故接待這樣小孩子的、就是接待我；凡接待我的、就是接待那差遣我的。因為在你們中間最小的，才是最大。』

『你必歡喜快樂；許多人必因他的出生而喜樂。因為他在主面前必成為大；淡酒濃酒他都不喝；自從出了母胎、他就被聖靈充滿；

這些人雖然都藉着信得了讚許的證言，卻沒有領受所應許的；因為上帝已經為了我們豫先供備更美好的事，要使他們、沒有我們、就不能得完全。
