神说：“你要带你的儿子，就是你所爱的独子以撒，往摩利亚地去，在我指示你的一座山上，把他献为燔祭。”

以利亚把孩子从楼上抱下来，进了房间交给他母亲，说：“看，你的儿子活了！”

看哪，全家族都起来攻击婢女，说：‘把那打死兄弟的交出来，我们好处死他，为他所打死的兄弟偿命，灭绝那承受家业的。’这样，他们要把我剩下的炭火灭尽，不给我丈夫留名或留后在地面上。”

有好些犹太人来看马大和马利亚，要为她们弟弟的缘故安慰她们。
