He also told them this parable:“ Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?

Jesus also gave them another example. He asked,“ Can a blind person lead another blind person? Won’t they both fall into a pit?

Then Jesus gave the following illustration:“ Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch?

姑聽之、彼乃瞽相瞽者、以瞽相瞽、二者互陷於坑矣、

行惡惑眾之徒、浸久叢滋、欺人而自欺、

有人傳異教、背吾主耶穌基督正理棄敬虔之至道、無知而自衒、辯論是務、言啟爭端、媢嫉爭競、訕謗惡意、由此而生、其人壞心術、滅真理、惟尚虛談、謂敬虔足以邀利、如此者、爾當遠之、

訓導斯民者、偏頗是尚、為所蠱惑者、淪胥以亡、

爾瞽而相者、其有禍乎、每曰、人指殿而誓、則無事、惟指殿內之金而誓、則當償之、爾愚且瞽、金與殿、孰大乎、亦金以殿聖耳、爾又曰、人指壇而誓、則無事、惟指壇上禮物而誓、則當償之、爾愚且瞽、禮物與壇、孰大乎、禮物以壇聖耳、故指壇而誓、是指壇及在其上者而誓也、指殿而誓、是指殿及居其內者而誓也、指天而誓、是指上帝座、及坐其上者而誓也、○偽善之士子、𠵽唎㘔人、其有禍乎、蓋爾於薄荷、八角、馬芹、十輸其一、但律法之尤重者、若義、與仁、與信、爾則遺之、然爾所當行者此也、彼第不可遺耳、爾瞽而相者、蚋則濾之、駝則吞之、偽善之士子、𠵽唎㘔人、其有禍乎、以爾潔杯盤之外、而劫奪非義充其內、噫、𠵽唎㘔人、其瞽乎、先潔杯盤之內、則其外亦潔矣、○

今我頒詔、諭彼偽先知之事、彼未嘗奉我所遣、猶託我名而告民云、斯土必無鋒刃饑饉之虞、彼先知必以鋒刃饑饉殲滅之。凡從其言者、必飲刃受饑、陳尸於耶路撒冷逵衢、以及妻室子女、無人瘞埋、蓋我使之慘罹惡報。

噫、蛇蝮之類、安能逭地獄刑乎、

爾必遭昏夜、不睹光明、不見異象、不能占驗、日必沉西、晝變晦冥、以罰偽先知焉、先見者抱愧、占卜者蒙羞、上帝不應獨祈、行皆掩口、

彼行可惡之事、豈有羞惡之心哉、恬不知羞、毫不懷慙、故我耶和華降災之時、必使傾圮、淪胥以亡。

耶和華告我曰、爾當取愚牧之器、我必使牧者興於斯土、將亡者彼不顧、迷途者彼不尋、被傷者彼不醫、茁壯者彼不牧、惟食肥羊、而斷其蹄、惟彼庸牧、遠離群羊、禍將及矣、其手其目、為刃所擊、其手廢矣、其目盲矣。

彼行可惡之事、豈有羞惡之心哉。恬不知恥、毫不懷慙、故我耶和華降災之時、必使傾圮、淪胥以亡。

民之戍卒、目眯不明、守夜之犬、喑不能吠、或偃卧、或假寐。
