Some of the Pharisees asked,“ Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

Some of the Pharisees said,“ It is against the Law to do this on the Sabbath day. Why are you doing it?”

But some of the Pharisees said,“ Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?”

But some Pharisees said,“ Why are you breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath?”

But some of the Pharisees said,“ Why are you doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

And some of the Pharisees said to them,“ Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?”

But certain of the Pharisees said, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?

For this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on a Sabbath.

Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was a Sabbath on that day.So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured,“ It is a Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.”But he answered them,“ He who made me well was the one who said to me,‘ Pick up your pallet and walk.’”

“ If, because of the Sabbath, you restrain your foot From doing as you wish on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a pleasure, and the holy day of the Lord honorable, And honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own pleasure And speaking your own word,

The Pharisees were saying to Him,“ Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

Now the scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse Him.But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand,“ Get up and come forward!” And he got up and came forward.And Jesus said to them,“ I ask you whether it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do harm, to save a life or to destroy it?”

“ If someone gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep for him, and it dies or is injured or is driven away while no one is looking,

And they said to Him,“ The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink.”

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the Law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others.You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!

“ Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”

For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.

Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.And those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation;and they placed him in custody, because it had not been decided what should be done to him.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ The man must be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.”

Now it was a Sabbath on the day that Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.Then the Pharisees also were asking him again how he received his sight. And he said to them,“ He applied mud to my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying,“ This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying,“ How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was dissension among them.
