耶穌復赴河濱、眾爭就之、為施訓焉。既而他往、見亞爾弗子理味坐稅關、召之曰：『從余。』起而從之。耶穌嘗讌理味家、諸稅吏罪人與耶穌及其門徒同席、蓋從之遊者甚眾也。法利塞人見其與稅吏罪人共食、因語其門徒曰：『彼乃與稅吏罪人共食耶？』耶穌聞而答曰：『康健者不需醫、正唯病者需之。吾之來也、非召義者、乃召罪人。』如望之弟子及法利塞人恆守齋、或來問耶穌曰：『如望弟子及法利塞人之徒、恆守齋、而汝徒獨不守齋何也？』耶穌對曰：『新壻在、賀婚之友能守齋乎？蓋新壻一日與之偕、若輩即一日不宜守齋。惟時將屆、新壻被挈而去、斯其友守齋時矣。人未有以新布補舊衣者、恐新布頓縮、反損舊衣、而破綻益甚。人亦未有以新酒貯舊囊者、恐新酒醱而突囊、酒既漏而囊亦不保。故新酒惟宜貯諸新囊耳。』

耶穌他適、途中見一人、坐稅關、名瑪竇、召之曰：『從予。』即起而從之。移時、耶穌讌於其家、稅吏罪人、魚貫而至、與耶穌及諸徒同席。法利塞人見之、謂其徒曰：『爾師奚為與稅吏罪人同食？』耶穌聞之、曰：『康健者不需醫、惟病者需之。「予愛仁慈、不愛祭祀；」爾其歸而玩索斯語之義。蓋予之來、非召義者、惟召罪人耳。』時有如望之徒晉謁曰：『吾儕及法利塞人恆齋、爾徒獨不齋何也？』耶穌對曰：『新壻之友、方伴新壻、詎能哀泣？他日新壻被刼而去、斯彼齋戒時矣。人未有以新布補舊衣者、恐補之反以損之、而裂痕彌深。人亦未有置新酒於舊囊者、恐囊突然而裂、則酒漏而囊亦廢。必置新酒於新囊、斯克兩全。』

又有安德烈、裴理伯、巴爾多樂茂、瑪竇、多默、亞爾弗子雅谷伯、樹德、加納人西門；

慈伯德子雅各伯暨弟若望、斐理伯、巴爾多祿茂、多默、稅吏瑪竇、亞爾咈子雅谷伯、樹德、

耶穌聞其言、而謂之曰：『尚缺一事、當盡鬻所有、施諸貧人、用積寶於天、然後來從予遊。』

乃諭諸徒曰：『人欲從予、必須克己、負其十字架、而追隨予後。

又次日、耶穌赴加利利、適遇斐理伯、諭之曰：『從予！』

人欲事我、宜亦步亦趨、追踵於我、庶幾我之所詣、吾僕亦克詣焉。人能事我、父必榮之。

耶穌曰：『第從我、任死者葬死人也。』

耶穌謂之曰：『從予、將使爾為生靈漁夫。』二人立棄其網而從之。復前行、又見兄弟二人、即慈伯德子雅各伯暨弟若望、與父慈伯德修網舟中；召之、

此言乃預示伯鐸祿將如何致命、以光榮天主耳。言已、又諭之曰：『從予！』伯鐸祿回顧、見耶穌愛徒亦隨於後；愛徒者即曩於晚餐時、倚耶穌懷中、而問何人鬻主者也。伯鐸祿見斯人、而問耶穌曰：『主乎、此人將如何？』耶穌曰：『縱欲留彼於世、以俟予之重來、亦何與於汝？汝惟從予而已！』
