Amazed, the people exclaimed,“ What authority and power this man’s words possess! Even evil spirits obey him, and they flee at his command!”

眾駭異相語曰、此何言耶、蓋彼以權以能命邪鬼、而鬼出矣、

眾異之、相告曰、是何道耶、蓋以權能命邪神、而神出矣、

眾駭異、相告曰、此何道耶、蓋彼以權能命邪魔、魔即出、

眾皆愕然相顧曰：『斯何道歟？言具威權、諭魔即出。』

All the people were amazed and said to each other,“ What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!”

All the people were amazed. They said to each other,“ What he says is amazing! With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits. And they come out!”

And they were all amazed and said to one another,“ What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Amazement came over them all, and they were saying to one another,“ What is this message? For he commands the unclean spirits with authority and power, and they come out!”

And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another, saying,“ What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying,“ What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

There, too, the people were amazed at his teaching, for he spoke with authority.

Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened.“ What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly.“ It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!”

So Jesus cast out the demon, and then the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed.“ Nothing like this has ever happened in Israel!” they exclaimed.

Then a demon possessed man, who was blind and couldn’t speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see.The crowd was amazed and asked,“ Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?”

These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

When the seventy two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him,“ Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”“ Yes,” he told them,“ I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

They were completely amazed and said again and again,“ Everything he does is wonderful. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to those who cannot speak.”

When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched his skin were placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spirits were expelled.A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying,“ I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!”Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this.But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied,“ I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?”Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered.

Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority.
