我把從上帝那裡聽到的真理告訴你們，你們反要殺我，亞伯拉罕絕不做這樣的事。

他們高喊：「以色列人快來幫忙！就是這人到處教唆人反對我們的民族、律法和聖殿。他還帶希臘人進聖殿，玷污這聖地。」這是因為他們在城裡見過一個名叫特羅非摩的以弗所人和保羅在一起，以為保羅一定把他帶進聖殿了。消息一傳開，全城轟動。眾人衝進聖殿把保羅拉出來，隨即關上殿門。正當他們要殺保羅的時候，有人把耶路撒冷發生騷亂的消息報告給羅馬軍營的千夫長，千夫長馬上帶著軍兵和幾個百夫長趕來了。眾人一見千夫長和軍隊，便停止毆打保羅。

我如果沒有在他們當中行過空前的神蹟，他們就沒有罪了。然而，他們親眼看見了，竟然還恨我和我的父。這是要應驗他們律法書上的話，『他們無故地恨我。』

耶和華對摩西說：「必須處死那人，全體會眾要在營外用石頭打死他。」

「我知道你們是亞伯拉罕的子孫，但你們卻想殺我，因為你們心裡容不下我的道。

惡人拔劍張弓要消滅窮苦人，殺戮正直人，

同樣，耶穌也在城門外受難，為要用自己的血使祂的子民聖潔。

眾人大喊大叫，捂著耳朵，蜂擁而上，把司提凡拉到城外，用石頭打他。指控他的人把他們的衣服交給一個名叫掃羅的青年看管。

他們被毒打一頓，又被關進監獄，官長命獄卒嚴密看守。獄卒接到命令後把他們關進內牢，雙腳上了枷鎖。

又把生擒的一萬人推下山崖摔得粉身碎骨。
