隨後又生了以掃的兄弟，手抓住以掃的腳跟，因此給他起名叫雅各。利百加生下兩個兒子的時候，以撒年正六十歲。

亞伯拉罕給撒拉所生的兒子起名叫以撒。

神又賜他割禮的約。於是亞伯拉罕生了以撒，第八日給他行了割禮。以撒生雅各；雅各生十二位先祖。

拿鶴活到二十九歲，生了他拉。拿鶴生他拉之後又活了一百一十九年，並且生兒養女。他拉活到七十歲，生了亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭。他拉的後代記在下面。他拉生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭；哈蘭生羅得。哈蘭死在他的本地迦勒底的吾珥，在他父親他拉之先。亞伯蘭、拿鶴各娶了妻：亞伯蘭的妻子名叫撒萊；拿鶴的妻子名叫密迦，是哈蘭的女兒；哈蘭是密迦和亦迦的父親。撒萊不生育，沒有孩子。他拉帶着他兒子亞伯蘭和他孫子哈蘭的兒子羅得，並他兒婦亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，出了迦勒底的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他們走到哈蘭，就住在那裏。他拉共活了二百零五歲，就死在哈蘭。

閃生亞法撒；亞法撒生沙拉；沙拉生希伯；希伯生法勒；法勒生拉吳；拉吳生西鹿；西鹿生拿鶴；拿鶴生他拉；他拉生亞伯蘭，亞伯蘭就是亞伯拉罕。亞伯拉罕的兒子是以撒、以實瑪利。

約書亞對眾民說：「耶和華－以色列的神如此說：『古時你們的列祖，就是亞伯拉罕和拿鶴的父親他拉，住在大河那邊事奉別神，

亞伯拉罕生以撒；以撒的兒子是以掃和以色列。
