那一天、安息週的第一日、傍晚、因為怕猶太人，門徒所在的地方門都關了。耶穌來，站在當中，對他們說：『願你們平安！』說了這話，就把手和肋旁指給他們看。門徒看見了主，就歡喜。於是耶穌又對他們說：『願你們平安！父怎樣差遣了我，我也怎樣差你們。』說了這話，就向他們吹一口氣，說：『你們受聖靈！你們赦免了誰的罪，誰的罪就赦免了；你們留而不赦誰的罪，誰的罪就留而不蒙赦了。』但是那十二人中有一個、就是那稱為雙生的多馬、耶穌來的時候、他沒有同他們在一起。其他的門徒就對多馬說：『我們已經看見了主了！』多馬卻對他們說：『除非我看見他手中的釘痕，又用我的指頭探入那釘痕，用我的手探入他的肋旁，我總不信的。』過了八天、耶穌的門徒又在裏面，多馬也同他們在一起。門都關了，耶穌來，站在當中說：『願你們平安！』

他們去報告其餘的人；那些人也不信。
