我将灵魂交托给你。信实的上帝耶和华啊，你必救赎我。

在乱石击打之下，司提凡呼求说：“主耶稣啊，接收我的灵魂吧！”然后跪下高声说：

耶稣尝了那醋酒，然后说：“成了！”就垂下头来，将灵魂交给了上帝。

祂被辱骂也不还口，被迫害也不扬言报复，只把自己交托给按公义施行审判的上帝。

大约在三点，耶稣大声呼喊：“以罗伊，以罗伊，拉马撒巴各大尼？”意思是：“我的上帝，我的上帝，你为什么离弃我？”有些站在旁边的人听见了，就说：“听，祂在呼叫以利亚。”有人跑去把一块海绵蘸满酸酒，绑在苇秆上送给祂喝，说：“等等，让我们看看以利亚会不会救祂下来。”耶稣大叫一声，就断了气。圣殿的幔子从上到下裂成两半。站在对面的百夫长看见耶稣喊叫断气的情形，便说：“这人真是上帝的儿子！”有些妇女在远处观看，其中有抹大拉的玛丽亚、小雅各和约西的母亲玛丽亚并撒罗米。耶稣在加利利时，她们已经跟随祂、服侍祂了。此外还有好些跟着祂上耶路撒冷的妇女。

大约下午三点，耶稣大声呼喊：“以利，以利，拉马撒巴各大尼？”意思是：“我的上帝，我的上帝，你为什么离弃我？”有些站在旁边的人听见了，就说：“这人在呼叫以利亚呢。”其中一人连忙跑去拿了一块海绵，蘸满酸酒，绑在苇秆上送给祂喝。其他人却说：“等一下！我们看看以利亚会不会来救祂。”耶稣又大喊了一声，就断了气。就在那时，圣殿里的幔子从上到下裂成两半，大地震动，岩石崩裂，坟墓打开，很多死去的圣徒复活过来。他们在耶稣复活后离开坟墓，进圣城向许多人显现。看守耶稣的百夫长和士兵看见地震及所发生的一切，都很害怕，说：“这人真是上帝的儿子啊！”有好些妇女在远处观看，她们从加利利就跟随了耶稣，服侍祂。其中有抹大拉的玛丽亚、雅各和约西的母亲玛丽亚以及西庇太两个儿子的母亲。
