But Pilate said to them,“ Why, what evil has He done?” But they shouted all the more,“ Crucify Him!”

He who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;

and he said to them,“ You brought this man to me on the ground that he is inciting the people to revolt; and behold, after examining Him before you, I have found no basis at all in the case of this man for the charges which you are bringing against Him.No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.

For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens;

But he said,“ Why, what evil has He done?” Yet they kept shouting all the more, saying,“ Crucify Him!”Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this Man’s blood; you yourselves shall see.”

but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

And then Pilate came out again and* said to them,“ See, I am bringing Him out to you so that you will know that I find no grounds at all for charges in His case.”Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate* said to them,“ Behold, the Man!”So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they shouted, saying,“ Crucify, crucify!” Pilate* said to them,“ Take Him yourselves and crucify Him; for I find no grounds for charges in His case!”

And while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message, saying,“ See that you have nothing to do with that righteous Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him.”

For Christ also suffered for sins once for all time, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
