Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,

“ Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies; Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.For they do not speak peace, But they devise deceitful matters Against the quiet ones in the land.They also opened their mouth wide against me, And said,“ Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it.”This You have seen, O Lord; Do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me.Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication, To my cause, my God and my Lord.Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me.Let them not say in their hearts,“ Ah, so we would have it!” Let them not say,“ We have swallowed him up.”

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face.I have become a stranger to my brothers, And an alien to my mother’s children;Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.When I wept and chastened my soul with fasting, That became my reproach.I also made sackcloth my garment; I became a byword to them.Those who sit in the gate speak against me, And I am the song of the drunkards.

“ If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them,“ If I tell you, you will by no means believe.And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go.Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”Then they all said,“ Are You then the Son of God?” So He said to them,“ You rightly say that I am.”

How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Thus says the Lord, The Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One, To Him whom man despises, To Him whom the nation abhors, To the Servant of rulers:“ Kings shall see and arise, Princes also shall worship, Because of the Lord who is faithful, The Holy One of Israel; And He has chosen You.”

Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion.

But in my adversity they rejoiced And gathered together; Attackers gathered against me, And I did not know it; They tore at me and did not cease;

Saying,“ God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying,“ This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

“ And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

For they persecute the ones You have struck, And talk of the grief of those You have wounded.

Then they said to one another,“ Look, this dreamer is coming!Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say,‘ Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!”

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying,“ Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,save Yourself, and come down from the cross!”Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said,“ He saved others; Himself He cannot save.Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.

Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left.And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their headsand saying,“ You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said,“ He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”

I have become the ridicule of all my people— Their taunting song all the day.

But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,“ He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
