耶稣这话是指自己将要怎样死说的。众人就回答他：“我们听见律法书上说，基督是永存的；你怎么说，人子必须被举起来呢？这人子是谁呢？”

他既按着上帝确定的旨意和预知被交与人，你们就藉着不法之人的手把他钉在十字架上，杀了。

“你们知道，过两天是逾越节，人子将要被出卖，钉在十字架上。”

犬类围着我，恶党环绕我；他们扎了我的手、我的脚。

他们既实现了经上指着他所记的一切话，就从木头上把他取下来，放在坟墓里。

既然基督为我们成了诅咒，就把我们从律法的诅咒中赎出来。因为经上记着：“凡挂在木头上的都是受诅咒的。”

所以，耶稣也在城门外受苦，为要用自己的血使百姓成圣。这样，我们也当走出营外，到他那里去，忍受他所受的凌辱。

他被挂在木头上，亲身担当了我们的罪，使我们既然在罪上死，就得以在义上活。因他受的鞭伤，你们得了医治。

说：“看哪，我们上耶路撒冷去，人子将被交给祭司长和文士；他们要定他死罪，又交给外邦人。他们要戏弄他，向他吐唾沫，鞭打他，杀害他；三天后，他要复活。”

不可让尸体留在木头上过夜，一定要当日把他埋葬，因为被挂的人是上帝所诅咒的。你不可玷污耶和华—你上帝所赐你为业的地。”

摩西在旷野怎样举蛇，人子也必须照样被举起来，

你们挂在木头上杀害的耶稣，我们祖宗的上帝已经使他复活了。

这是要应验耶稣所说，指自己将要怎样死的话。

把他交给外邦人戏弄，鞭打，钉在十字架上；第三天他要复活。”
