『看吧，我們上耶路撒冷去，人子必被送交給祭司長和經學士；他們必定他死罪，把他送交給外國人；他們必戲弄他，向他吐唾沫，鞭打他，殺害他；三天以後，他就必復起。』

他的屍體你不可留在示眾木上過夜，總要在當天將他葬埋，因為被掛的人是上帝所咒詛的；這樣、你就不至於使永恆主你的上帝所賜給你以為業的土地蒙不潔。

『摩西怎樣在野地裏高舉了蛇，人子也必須怎樣被高舉，

你們下毒手而掛在木架上的耶穌，我們列祖的上帝使他活了起來。

這是要應驗耶穌的話，就是他所指明、他將要由甚麼樣的死而死來說的。

把他送交給外國人，去戲弄、鞭打、並釘十字架；第三天他就必得甦活起來。』
