主人回來，看見奴僕警醒等候，奴僕就有福了！我實在告訴你們，主人必束上腰帶請他們坐席，並親自服侍他們。無論主人在深夜或黎明回家，若發現奴僕警醒等候，奴僕就有福了。「你們都知道，一家的主人若預先知道賊什麼時候來，一定不會讓賊入屋偷竊。同樣，你們也要做好準備，因為在你們意想不到的時候，人子就來了。」

因此，你們要用上帝所賜的全副軍裝裝備自己，好在邪惡的時代抵擋仇敵，到爭戰結束後依舊昂首挺立。務要站穩，用真理當作帶子束腰，以公義當作護心鏡遮胸，

他豈會以全能者為樂，時時求告上帝？

不斷地禱告，

你們這種表現正是上帝公義審判的明證，使你們配進上帝的國，你們正在為這國受苦。上帝是公義的，祂必以患難來報應那些迫害你們的人。

然而，祂來臨的日子，誰能承受得了呢？祂出現的時候，誰能站立得住呢？因為祂像煉金之火，又像漂白衣裳的鹼。

要靠著聖靈隨時多方禱告和祈求，警醒不怠地為眾聖徒禱告。也請你們為我禱告，求上帝賜我口才，讓我勇敢地把福音的奧祕講解明白。

他和全家都是虔誠敬畏上帝的人，他慷慨賙濟窮人，常常禱告。
