如果我们说：‘是从人来的’，众人都会用石头打我们，因为他们都认定约翰是先知。”

但如果说‘是来自人间’，那么民众都会用石头砸我们，因为他们深信约翰是先知。”

若說『從人間來』，百姓都要用石頭打死我們，因為他們信約翰是先知。」

若說「由於人」呢，眾民就會用石頭打死我們；因為他們都確信約翰是神言人。』

但如果說『是來自人間』，那麼民眾都會用石頭砸我們，因為他們深信約翰是先知。」

若云自人、眾民必以石擊我、蓋民信約翰為先知也、

若云由人、民必石擊我、蓋民信約翰為先知也、

若云自人、民必以石擊我、蓋民皆信約翰為先知也、

若云自人、又恐犯眾怒、而遭石擊、蓋眾皆確信如望之為先知也。』

But if we say,‘ From people,’ all the people will throw stones at us and kill us. They believe that John was a prophet.”

But if we say,‘ From man,’ all the people will stone us to death, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

But if we say it was merely human, the people will stone us because they are convinced John was a prophet.”

But if we say,‘ From men,’ all the people will stone us to death, since they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

But if we say,‘ From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”

But if we shall say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.

But if we say,‘ From men,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

But if we say,‘ From people,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

But if we say,‘ From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”

But if we say,‘ Of human origin,’ we’re afraid of the crowd, because everyone considers John to be a prophet.”

What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.

Though Herod wanted to kill John, he feared the crowd since they regarded John as a prophet.

Although they were looking for a way to arrest him, they feared the crowds, because the people regarded him as a prophet.

Many came to him and said,“ John never did a sign, but everything John said about this man was true.”

Then the commander went with the servants and brought them in without force, because they were afraid the people might stone them.

And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.This is the one about whom it is written: See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.I tell you, among those born of women no one is greater than John, but the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”( And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

“ Not during the festival,” they said,“ so there won’t be rioting among the people.”

They were looking for a way to arrest him but feared the crowd because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. So they left him and went away.
