He said to them,“ How then does David in the Spirit call Him‘ Lord,’ saying:‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”’?If David then calls Him‘ Lord,’ how is He his Son?”

For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.

Now these are the last words of David. Thus says David the son of Jesse; Thus says the man raised up on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel:“ The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:“ Today, if you will hear His voice,

For David himself said by the Holy Spirit:‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”’Therefore David himself calls Him‘ Lord’; how is He then his Son?” And the common people heard Him gladly.

God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:‘ You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus:‘ I will give you the sure mercies of David.’Therefore He also says in another Psalm:‘ You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

“ For it is written in the book of Psalms:‘ Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it’; and,‘ Let another take his office.’
