For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

These are the final words of David:“ The oracle of David son of Jesse, the oracle of the man raised up as the ruler chosen by the God of Jacob, Israel’s beloved singer of songs:The LORD’s spirit spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,“ Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks!

David himself, by the Holy Spirit, said,‘ The Lord said to my lord,“ Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.”’If David himself calls him‘ Lord,’ how can he be his son?” And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

that this promise God has fulfilled to us, their children, by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second psalm,‘ You are my Son; today I have fathered you.’But regarding the fact that he has raised Jesus from the dead, never again to be in a state of decay, God has spoken in this way:‘ I will give you the holy and trustworthy promises made to David.’Therefore he also says in another psalm,‘ You will not permit your Holy One to experience decay.’
