满了八天，替孩子行割礼的时候，就给他起名叫耶稣，就是他成胎之前，天使所起的。满了洁净的日子，他们就按着摩西的律法，带孩子上耶路撒冷去，奉献给主。正如主的律法所记：“所有头生的男孩，都当称为圣归给主。”又照着主的律法所说的献上祭物，就是一对斑鸠或两只雏鸽。

“我吩咐你们的一切话，你们都要谨守遵行，不可加添，也不可减少。”（本节在《马索拉文本》为13:1）

但到了时机成熟，神就差遣他的儿子，由女人所生，而且生在律法之下，要把律法之下的人救赎出来，好让我们得着嗣子的名分。

耶稣回答：“暂且这样作吧。我们理当这样履行全部的义。”于是约翰答应了他。

他就同他们下去，回到拿撒勒，并且顺从他们。他母亲把这一切事，都存在心里。
