耶路撒冷乎、嗟爾殘殺先知、石擊天主星使之耶路撒冷乎！吾之欲集爾子女、如牝雞之覆翼其雛者、不已頻乎？而爾終莫之許也。今者爾室其墟矣！蓋吾語爾、自今而後、以至爾歡呼「奉主名而來者、洵堪頌揚」之日、爾將不得睹予矣。』

惟見慘無人道之事、入禁地（讀者其深味斯言、）則在猶太者當避入深山、在屋頂者勿下梯、勿入室中取物、在田者勿歸取衣。當時孕育哺乳者、亦可哀矣！爾當祈求、使此難勿值隆冬。斯時之所遭、實為天主創世以來空前絕後之大難也主若不減其時日、則血氣之倫、將無遺孑！惟為選民之故、主必減之耳。
