說：『巴不得連你也在這日子知道那關於你平安之事哦；無奈已被隱藏、使你的眼看不出來了。

說：「巴不得你在這日子裡明白關乎你和平的事，但如今這事在你眼前被隱藏了。

曰、倘爾於是日、知關乎平安之事則幸、但今隱於爾目矣、

曰、今猶為爾日、及是時、而知關爾平安之事、則幸、過此、隱於爾目矣、

城乎、今猶為爾之日、倘爾於是日、而知關爾平安之事則幸、但此事今隱於爾目矣、

『汝倘能於此日、恍然了悟平安之所自、豈不美乎？奈何至今！汝目猶有所蒙也。

and said,“ If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace— but now it is hidden from your eyes.

He said,“ I wish you had known today what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.

saying,“ Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

saying,“ If you knew this day what would bring peace— but now it is hidden from your eyes.

saying,“ If you had known on this day, even you, the conditions for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.

saying,“ If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

saying,“ If you knew this day what would bring peace— but now it is hidden from your eyes.

Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things[ which belong] unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

saying,“ If you had only known on this day, even you, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

saying,“ If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.

Oh, that they were wise and could understand this! Oh, that they might know their fate!

As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.For God says,“ At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the“ right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ.Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Remember what it says:“ Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.”

If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing.Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us.

You must warn each other every day, while it is still“ today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.

You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins.Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us,to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”

Jesus replied,“ My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.” After saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them.

This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel— that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says,‘ When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend.For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’

Oh, that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea.

Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel?I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!

Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.

And after they had argued back and forth among themselves, they left with this final word from Paul:“ The Holy Spirit was right when he said to your ancestors through Isaiah the prophet,‘ Go and say to this people: When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend.For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’

You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise:“ Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”

And he said,“ Yes, go, and say to this people,‘ Listen carefully, but do not understand. Watch closely, but learn nothing.’Harden the hearts of these people. Plug their ears and shut their eyes. That way, they will not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand with their hearts and turn to me for healing.”

They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not recognize it when God visited you.”

Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared,“ It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles.

So this is the situation: Most of the people of Israel have not found the favor of God they are looking for so earnestly. A few have— the ones God has chosen— but the hearts of the rest were hardened.As the Scriptures say,“ God has put them into a deep sleep. To this day he has shut their eyes so they do not see, and closed their ears so they do not hear.”Likewise, David said,“ Let their bountiful table become a snare, a trap that makes them think all is well. Let their blessings cause them to stumble, and let them get what they deserve.Let their eyes go blind so they cannot see, and let their backs be bent forever.”

For the Lord has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep. He has closed the eyes of your prophets and visionaries.All the future events in this vision are like a sealed book to them. When you give it to those who can read, they will say,“ We can’t read it because it is sealed.”When you give it to those who cannot read, they will say,“ We don’t know how to read.”And so the Lord says,“ These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man made rules learned by rote.Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders. The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”

This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies.Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.

Such stupidity and ignorance! Their eyes are closed, and they cannot see. Their minds are shut, and they cannot think.

As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die?

This is exactly what Isaiah the prophet had predicted:“ Lord, who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm?”But the people couldn’t believe, for as Isaiah also said,“ The Lord has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts— so that their eyes cannot see, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and have me heal them.”Isaiah was referring to Jesus when he said this, because he saw the future and spoke of the Messiah’s glory.

Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.

That is why the Holy Spirit says,“ Today when you hear his voice,

for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today!The Lord says,“ Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness.

Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths!

Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! If they did, they and their descendants would prosper forever.

“ Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say,‘ May God’s peace be on this house.’If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you.

but the angel reassured them.“ Don’t be afraid!” he said.“ I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.The Savior— yes, the Messiah, the Lord— has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others— the armies of heaven— praising God and saying,“ Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
