How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say,‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep your commands.

Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked, who forsake your law.

But if you will not listen, my soul will weep in secret for your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender.

My eyes shed streams of tears, because people do not keep your law.

that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
