主人叫他来，对他说：‘我听到了，你做的是什么事？把你所经管的交代清楚，你不能再作我的管家了。’那管家心里说：‘主人辞我，不用我再作管家，我将来做什么呢？锄地嘛，没有力气；讨饭嘛，怕羞。我知道怎么做，好叫人们在我不作管家之后，接我到他们家里去。’于是他把欠他主人债的，一个一个地叫了来，问头一个说：‘你欠我主人多少？’他说：‘一百篓油。’管家对他说：‘拿你的账，快坐下，写五十。’他问另一个说：‘你欠多少？’他说：‘一百石麦子。’管家对他说：‘拿你的账，写八十。’主人就夸奖这不义的管家做事精明，因为今世之子应付自己的世代比光明之子更加精明。我又告诉你们，要藉着那不义的钱财结交朋友，到了钱财无用的时候，他们可以接你们到永远的住处去。人在最小的事上忠心，在大事上也忠心；在最小的事上不义，在大事上也不义。若是你们在不义的钱财上不忠心，谁还把那真实的钱财托付你们呢？如果你们在别人的东西上不忠心，谁还把你们自己的东西给你们呢？一个仆人不能服侍两个主；他不是恨这个爱那个，就是重这个轻那个。你们不能又服侍上帝，又服侍玛门。”

可是你，你为什么评断弟兄呢？你又为什么轻看弟兄呢？因我们都要站在上帝的审判台前。经上写着：“主说，我指着我的永生起誓：万膝必向我跪拜；万口必称颂上帝。”这样看来，我们各人一定要把自己的事在上帝面前交代。

人应该把我们看为基督的执事，为上帝的奥秘的管家。所求于管家的，是要他忠心。我被你们评断，或被别人评断，我都以为是极小的事；连我自己也不评断自己。虽然我不觉得自己有错，却也不能因此判为无罪；审断我的是主。所以，时候未到，在主来以前什么都不要评断，他要照出暗中的隐情，揭发人的动机。那时，各人要从上帝那里得着称赞。

至于那不知道而做了当受责打的事的，要少受责打。多给谁，就向谁多取；多托谁，就向谁多要。”

过了许久，那些仆人的主人来了，和他们算账。

因为天国好像一个王要和他仆人算账。他开始算的时候，有人带了一个欠一万他连得的仆人来。因为他没有什么偿还之物，主人下令把他和他妻子儿女，以及一切所有的都卖了来偿还。那仆人就俯伏向他叩头，说：‘宽容我吧，我都会还你的。’那仆人的主人就动了慈心，把他释放了，并且免了他的债。那仆人出来，遇见一个欠他一百个银币的同伴，就揪着他，扼住他的喉咙，说：‘把你所欠的还我！’他的同伴就俯伏央求他，说：‘宽容我吧，我会还你的。’他不肯，却把他下在监里，直到他还了所欠的债。同伴们看见他所做的事就很悲愤，把这一切的事都告诉了主人。于是主人叫了他来，对他说：‘你这恶奴才！你央求我，我就把你所欠的都免了；你不应该怜悯你的同伴，像我怜悯你吗？’主人就大怒，把他交给司刑的，直到他还清了所欠的债。你们各人若不从心里饶恕你的弟兄，我天父也要这样待你们。”
