They say,‘ Keep to yourself! Don’t get near me, for I am holier than you!’ These people are like smoke in my nostrils, like a fire that keeps burning all day long.

But you who eat vegetables only– why do you judge your brother or sister? And you who eat everything– why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

but Israel even though pursuing a law of righteousness did not attain it.Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but( as if it were possible) by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

Then the Pharisees answered,“ You haven’t been deceived too, have you?None of the rulers or the Pharisees have believed in him, have they?But this rabble who do not know the law are accursed!”

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unrighteous people, adulterers– or even like this tax collector.

– though mine too are significant. If someone thinks he has good reasons to put confidence in human credentials, I have more:I was circumcised on the eighth day, from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews. I lived according to the law as a Pharisee.In my zeal for God I persecuted the church. According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.”

And I was once alive apart from the law, but with the coming of the commandment sin became alive

They heaped insults on him, saying,“ You are his disciple! We are disciples of Moses!

But the expert, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

Hear the word of the LORD, you who respect what he has to say! Your countrymen, who hate you and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of my name, say,“ May the LORD be glorified, then we will witness your joy.” But they will be put to shame.

Then he said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

The Judeans replied,“ Aren’t we correct in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?”

And when the people saw it, they all complained,“ He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

But the Pharisees and the experts in the law were complaining,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

but he answered his father,‘ Look! These many years I have worked like a slave for you, and I never disobeyed your commands. Yet you never gave me even a goat so that I could celebrate with my friends!But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’

They replied,“ You were born completely in sinfulness, and yet you presume to teach us?” So they threw him out.
