吾語汝、冤之伸也忽焉、人子至、詎見信於世乎、○

我告爾、必速伸其冤矣、但人子臨時、豈見世有信德乎、○

予實語爾、天主必迅予昭雪矣。雖然、人子重臨之日、猶能見篤信之德、存於人世否乎？』

I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

I tell you, God will see that things are made right for them. He will make sure it happens quickly. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find people on earth who have faith?”

And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works,not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near.For if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins is left for us,

“ Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations because of my name.Then many will be led into sin, and they will betray one another and hate one another.And many false prophets will appear and deceive many,and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold.But the person who endures to the end will be saved.

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man.People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage– right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot, people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

And in their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their condemnation pronounced long ago is not sitting idly by; their destruction is not asleep.

Now, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that a single day is like a thousand years with the Lord and a thousand years are like a single day.The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Answer me quickly, LORD! My strength is fading. Do not reject me, or I will join those descending into the grave.May I hear about your loyal love in the morning, for I trust in you. Show me the way I should go, because I long for you.Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD! I run to you for protection.

Now on the topic of times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you.For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come in the same way as a thief in the night.Now when they are saying,“ There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape.

God lives within it, it cannot be moved. God rescues it at the break of dawn.

Come now, you rich! Weep and cry aloud over the miseries that are coming on you.Your riches have rotted and your clothing has become moth- eaten.Your gold and silver have rusted and their rust will be a witness against you. It will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have hoarded treasure!Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.You have lived indulgently and luxuriously on the earth. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, although he does not resist you.So be patient, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s return. Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.You also be patient and strengthen your hearts, for the Lord’s return is near.

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
