蓋如望以義路開導於爾、爾不之信；而稅吏娼妓、則信之矣。爾見其事。猶未能悔悟而起信也。

『汝其悔悟、天國伊邇。』

然則爾之去也、將欲睹先知乎？予曰是矣、然不僅先知而已也。經云：「予遣使爾前、為爾備道、」即斯人也！予實語爾、婦女所生、未有大於如望者也。然天主國中之至小者、視彼猶大。眾與稅吏、咸受洗於如望、聞其言莫不稱頌天主至德；

斐理伯遇納大那、告之曰：『摩西書及諸先知所預言者、我儕今已遇之、即若瑟之子、納匝勒人耶穌是已。』

隨在宣道曰：「天國近矣。」

自是耶穌開始傳道曰：『爾其悔悟、天國伊邇。』

如望既被逮、耶穌返加利利、傳天主之福音曰：

自撒母耳以至諸先知所作預言、亦未嘗不預報斯日。爾曹乃先知之後；天主與我祖立約、亦為爾曹。

「爾邑之塵着我足、茲當爾拂去之。第爾應知天主之國在邇矣！」

天主早藉先知之口、預言基督必將蒙難、事已見應；

治其病者、告邑人曰：「天主之國、已近爾矣！」

遣其宣揚天主國、施醫濟眾、

亞伯漢曰：「不聽摩西與先知、縱死者復活亦不可勸化矣。」

亞伯漢曰：「若輩自有摩西及先知、可資遵循。」

若聽其所為、則眾庶咸將信之、而羅馬人必至而奪吾土吾民矣。』

法利塞人因相語曰：『舉世風從、吾其休矣！』

耶穌徧遊加利利、施訓會堂中、講天國福音、治民間諸疾；

詎知其人出而宣揚其事、致耶穌不復得公然入城、惟逗留曠郊。而各方之人、趨之若鶩。
