耶穌曰：『爾曹希俗取容、矯義人前、而天主固洞悉爾心。應知人之所貴、正天主之所賤也。

He said to them,“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.

Jesus said to them,“ You try to make yourselves look good in the eyes of other people. But God knows your hearts. What people think is worth a lot is hated by God.

And he said to them,“ You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Then he said to them,“ You like to appear righteous in public, but God knows your hearts. What this world honors is detestable in the sight of God.

And he told them,“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.

And He said to them,“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of people, but God knows your hearts; because that which is highly esteemed among people is detestable in the sight of God.

And He said to them,“ You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

And He told them:“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.

He said to them,“ You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

惟修養內心、以溫柔嫻靜之精神為飾、則可大可久、天主所珍也。

幼輩亦當順服長老。彼此之間、皆當以謙德自束。應知天主損傲益謙；

即洞察人心之天主、亦曾為之作證、賜彼以聖神、一如吾人；

故望爾等在時機未熟之前、勿遽下評斷；務須靜候主之來臨。屆時、彼必燭幽揚隱、揭曉人心之思慮；而人人必得公允之褒獎矣。

耶穌謂之曰：『爾法利塞人、惟滌盃盤外表、而爾之內心、實藏垢納污。

其子女均將夭折；俾諸教會皆知吾洞察人心、且將按爾中各人之行為而施報應焉。

經生又強辯曰：『誰為吾鄰？』

凡彼所行、惟欲求知於人；廣其佩經、長其綴旒、

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾第潔杯盤之表、而內充貪污邪欲。矇哉法利塞人！爾其先潔杯盤之內、則其外自潔矣。哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾猶粉堊之塋、外形雖美、內充屍骸諸穢。

但願睿哲主。鑒察我忠義。按照爾公平。報答我純粹。

法利塞昂立默念、曰：「謝主俾我異若眾！眾或貪污、或犯義、或奸淫、謝主俾我異斯稅吏！

此人以不義所獲、購置一田、嗣身仆腹裂、臟腑迸出。

蓋彼洞幽燭微、於人無所不悉、固無待外證耳。

故爾於施濟時毋效虛偽者在堂中或市上、鳴角以求榮於人者之所為也。吾實語爾。彼已獲其報矣。

驕矜自慢兮。目無主宰。刼奪人財兮。逍遙法外。

潤屋亦何益。空手歸寂寞。

誰知盈難持。榮華荏苒已。生榮死則休。蠢蠢如鹿豕。

蓋徒恃遵行律法、無人能稱義於天主之前；惟因法而知罪耳。

明哉雅瑋。燭幽洞微。諳我起居。鑒我秘思。

其人對曰：『凡此皆自幼遵行。』

爾齋戒時、毋戚戚然作憂色、一如虛偽者之故毀厥容、惟恐人之不知其齋戒也。吾實語爾、彼已獲其報矣。

凌占孤寒之產、而以長禱為矯飾之具、此輩之受譴、必有異乎尋常者焉。』

爾祈禱時、亦勿效虛偽之徒；蓋若輩喜立於堂中街頭、而作祈禱、故令人見。吾實語爾、彼已獲其報矣。

乃遣諜者偽為善人、伺其言有隙、執交有司。

昔亞伯漢曾毅然以其子伊灑格獻於祭壇之上矣。彼非以行而取義耶？可見其行固有恃乎其信、為之推動、而其信亦有待乎其行、為之玉成也。於是古經所載亞伯漢因信天主而成聖、且稱為「天主之友」云者、乃獲當然之補充、而厥義大備矣。可見人之稱義、以其所行、而不僅憑其所信而已。再如花娘拉哈收留使者、示以改道而歸；寧非以行見義乎？

三問曰：『若納子西門、汝果慕我乎？』伯鐸祿因三次見問、不覺愀然曰：『主乎、爾固無所不知、當知吾之慕爾矣。』主曰：『飼吾羊！
