蓋吾兒死而復生、失而復得矣。」

曩者爾等本已死於罪孽之中、與世俗同流合污、聽命於塵氛中之魔王。魔王者、即至今猶在悖逆心中活動之邪神也。吾輩過去亦在悖逆之列、縱情恣慾、為所欲為、原屬觸怒之子、與外邦人為一丘之貉。然富於慈悲之天主、按其愛人之大德、緣基督之偉功、拔吾人於罪中、起吾人於已死、俾吾人得與基督同享生命；且天主實已賜吾人托基督而復活、托基督而位於諸天之上矣。夫天主之所以為此者、乃欲假吾人因基督耶穌而受之慈惠、以昭示其無窮之恩德於後世耳。蓋爾因信而蒙救、實憑聖寵；凡此皆非爾所固有、純出天主之惠賜。無功而受賜夫孰得而自矜？即吾人本身亦莫非天主之化工、藉基督耶穌為行善而締造。然則吾人之行善、乃天主之成命耳。

主實明察。所悅惟誠。祈將慧光。照我五陰。

無是理也！即使眾人皆偽、亦不能改天主之真。經云：『主言惟正、睿斷實公、』斯之謂也。

人子之來也、食焉飲焉、而爾則曰：「盍視彼人、饕餮也、酒徒也、稅吏罪人之友也。」

亦欲使異邦人民、感荷天主洪恩、而心歌腹詠焉。經云：『欲在萬民前、鼓琴詠爾名。』又云：『願爾萬邦民、咸同義塞樂。』又云：『萬邦共稱主、億兆齊頌美。』而意灑雅書亦曰：『葉瑟之根苗、掘興治萬邦；萬邦所依恃生靈所仰望。』天主乃希望之泉源、爾等信之、必得飽嘗神樂及平安、且憑聖神之力、而懷無窮之望焉。

夫法之所言、所以昭示法內之人、亦所以塞夫人之口、而使舉世皆服罪於天主之前也。
