But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people— even eating with them!

法利賽人見之、問其門徒曰、爾師何為與稅吏罪人同食乎、

人子至亦食亦飲、爾又言其嗜食好酒、與稅吏及罪人為友、

曰、爾入未受割禮者之家、與之同食耶、

經士及法利賽人、譏耶穌門徒曰、爾曹何與稅吏及罪人共食乎、

蓋雅各所遣之人未至、磯法與異邦人同食、及至、磯法畏受割禮者、則退而避之、

我曾以書達爾、勸勿與行淫者交、我言非概指此世之行淫者、或貪婪者、勒索者、拜偶像者、若然、則爾必須離世矣、我今致書勸爾、若有稱為兄弟者而行淫、或貪婪、或拜偶像、或詬詈、或醉酒、或勒索、如此之人、勿與之交、勿與之共食、

長子對父曰、我事父多年、未嘗違命、父未以羔賜我、俾我與友同樂、惟此子宿娼狎妓、盡耗父業、既至、則為之宰肥犢也、
