But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.

That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

to whom he said,“ This is the resting place. All vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is educated, saying,“ Read this, please;” and he says,“ I can’t, for it is sealed;”and the book is delivered to one who is not educated, saying,“ Read this, please;” and he says,“ I can’t read.”

Then I said,“ Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know the Yahweh’s way, nor the law of their God.I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of Yahweh, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.

As it was in the days of Noah, even so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man.They ate, they drank, they married, and they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ship, and the flood came and destroyed them all.Likewise, even as it was in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulfur from the sky and destroyed them all.It will be the same way in the day that the Son of Man is revealed.In that day, he who will be on the housetop and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away. Let him who is in the field likewise not turn back.

When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one word,“ The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,saying,‘ Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.’

Yahweh says,“ Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths,‘ Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’I set watchmen over you, saying,‘ Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said,‘ We will not listen!’

But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
