爾以為我至、措和平於世、我謂不然、轉分爭耳、

爾以為我來使世和平、我告爾、非也、乃使人分爭、

爾意予之來、為授世以和平乎？非也！將予以分化耳。

“ Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.For I have come to‘ set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’;and‘ a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’

And I took my staff, Beauty, and cut it in two, that I might break the covenant which I had made with all the peoples.So it was broken on that day. Thus the poor of the flock, who were watching me, knew that it was the word of the Lord.

Then I cut in two my other staff, Bonds, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

“ I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

So I fed the flock for slaughter, in particular the poor of the flock. I took for myself two staffs: the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bonds; and I fed the flock.I dismissed the three shepherds in one month. My soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.All these are the beginning of sorrows.“ Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
