爾以我來施和平於世乎、我語汝、非也、乃分爭耳、

爾以為我至、措和平於世、我謂不然、轉分爭耳、

爾以為我來使世和平、我告爾、非也、乃使人分爭、

爾意予之來、為授世以和平乎？非也！將予以分化耳。

“ Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.For I came to turn a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter in law against her mother in law;and a person’s enemies will be the members of his household.

And I took my staff Favor and cut it in pieces, to break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.So it was broken on that day, and so the afflicted of the flock who were watching me realized that it was the word of the Lord.

Then I cut in pieces my second staff Union, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

“ I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!

So I pastured the flock doomed to slaughter, therefore also the afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two staffs: the one I called Favor, and the other I called Union; so I pastured the flock.Then I did away with the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also was tired of me.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pains.“ Then they will hand you over to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.And at that time many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another.
