其不知而行當罰之罪者、受撻猶少。誠以賦之厚、則望之深、託之重、則責之嚴也。

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

But suppose the servant does not know his master’s wishes. And suppose the servant does things for which he should be punished. He will receive a lighter beating. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. Even more will be asked of the person who is supposed to take care of much.

But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.

於小者忠、於大者亦忠、於小者不義、於大者亦不義、若爾於不義之財不忠、誰以真財託爾、若爾於屬他人者不忠、誰以屬己者予爾、

我昔為毀謗者、窘逐者、侮慢者、但此因在不信之時、無知而作、故猶蒙矜恤、

若我未來訓之、則其人無罪、今其罪不得辭矣、

以色列土著、或寄居其中之外邦客旅、若誤犯罪、俱為一例、無論為土著、為外邦客旅、若敢故犯、即褻瀆主、其人必滅絕於民中、

凡無律法而犯罪者、必無律法而沈淪、凡有律法而犯罪者、必以律法審判之、在天主前、非聞律法者為義、乃遵律法者稱義、蓋異邦人無律法、而自然行律法之事、雖無律法、而自為律法、即以行事彰明律法、銘於其心、是非之心、亦為之證、其意念互相褒貶、即於天主藉耶穌基督審判人隱微之日、如我福音所言也、○

主人乃呼之曰、我聞人訴爾如此、何也、可出會計簿藉、爾不得仍為司事者、

提摩太乎、爾當守所託付爾者、避妄論虛詞、及偽稱智慧之辨問、

約瑟不從、謂主母曰、一切家務在我、主人無所知、而以凡所有者歸我掌握、此家之人莫大於我、爾既為主人之妻、除爾之外皆付於我、我豈敢作此大惡、獲罪於天主乎、婦日誘約瑟、約瑟不從、不但不與同寢、亦不與共處、一日、約瑟入室治事、適無一家人在室、婦執其衣曰、與我同寢、約瑟棄衣於婦手遁而出、婦見其遁、棄衣在手、遂呼家人曰、爾觀家主挈希伯來人來此戲我、適至、欲與我同寢、我厲聲號呼、即棄衣於我手、遁而出、婦存其衣、以待主人歸、既歸、婦以是言告之曰、爾所挈之希伯來奴來此戲我、我厲聲號呼、彼乃棄衣在此遁而出、約瑟主人聞其妻之言曰、爾奴待我如此、則怒甚、執約瑟下獄、即犯王章者囚禁之所、於是約瑟在獄、主祐約瑟特矜恤之、使之獲恩於司獄前、司獄以獄中諸囚皆付約瑟掌理、獄中諸囚、凡其所為、惟約瑟是問、司獄以諸獄事歸約瑟掌理、司獄一無所鑒、蓋主祐約瑟、使其所為、無不亨通、

此正教、乃循所託我之福音、即可讚可讚或作洪福之天主榮耀之福音、

往時世人蒙昧、天主不究、今乃命眾隨在悔改、

及時天主用人宣傳而顯著其道、且由我救主天主之命、託我傳之、

我若樂意為此、則必得賞、若不樂意、則其任仍託於我、然則我之賞何歟、即我傳基督之福音、使人無所費而得、不妄用我在福音所有之權、
